On the Road with RoxAnna: Day Two
May 1, 2017
Landed in Madrid.
Third airport and 6000 miles later, still on the road. Nothing like a 9 hour layover to get you thinking. So many faces, so many destinations, so many stories. People rushing, people sauntering, people even sleeping. Somebody is always coming and somebody is always going. One thing we all have in common is we all have a home somewhere, and in that home no matter where we come from we have wildlife. But when is the last time you enjoyed that wildlife?
Lately, the concept of slowing down has come up. A 9 hour layover will definitely get you thinking about slowing down. When is the last time you slowed down to take breath, watch some wildlife in your own back yard or even just have your morning coffee listening to the birds chirping? When was the last time you even had one hour to yourself to stop to breathe and be alone with your own thoughts? Sounds crazy doesn’t it? But what if you did? What if you scheduled time in your day to just stop and be still. Your own little layover in your day.
We say we want to save wildlife and wild places, and we definitely do but why. Isn’t one of those reasons so we can enjoy the natural world? So we can take a moment to just simply be close to nature in some way. But what if we never take the time to slow down? There is very little wildlife in an airport, it makes me think, what if our homes were like this. How gloomy our lives would be? Nature completes us, it balances us, it reminds us that sometimes we just need to be one with it. So on those busy days of hustling and bustling, maybe make yourself take a layover surrounded by nature. If even for a sharing a cup of coffee with the birds or a glass of wine with a sunset. You might just find yourself a little happier that your day has been delayed.
Be good humans.
